Biotyping and antibiotic susceptibility pattern of Klebsiella species.

چکیده
Two hundred strains ofKlebsiella species isolated from clinical specimens over a four-month period were biotyped as Klebsiella aerogenes (173 strains), Klebsiella ozaenae (15 strains), Klebsiella edwardsii (5 strains), Klebsiella atlantae (2 strains) and Klebsiella oxytoca (1 strain). Klebsiella aerogenes and Klebsiella ozaenae were more resistant towards antibiotics when compared with other species. Colonial morphology on eosin methylene blue agar (Oxoid) was not found useful for differentiations ofKlebsiella biotypes.

Phenotypic Identification and Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern of AmpC beta-Lactamase Producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections from a Tertiary Care Hospital of Rawalpindi, Pakistan
Introduction: This study is aimed to compare phenotypic test methods and determine antibiotic susceptibility pattern of AmpC beta-lactamase producing uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical isolates. Method: E. coli and K. pneumoniae were identified by standard microbiological procedures. Screening of AmpC beta-lactamase production was done by using cefoxitin disc (...
متن کاملEvaluation of Antibiotic Susceptibility of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella spp. Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections of Patients Attending a University Hospital in Tehran
Background and Objectives: E. coli and Klebsiella spp. are recognized as most prevalent bacteria causing urinary tract infection (UTI), the most common bacterial infection. Decreasing of antimicrobial susceptibility in urinary pathogens has made difficulty in treatment of UTI. The aim of this study was to determine antibiotic susceptibility of E. coli and Klebsiella spp. isolated from urine of ...
متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance Pattern and the Prevalence of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBLs) in Urinary Isolates of Klebsiella Pneumoniae
Abstract Background and Objective: Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic nosocomial pathogen causing a variety of infections including urinary tract infections, pneumonia, septicemia, wound infections and infections in the intensive care units. Since the ESBL producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains are increasingly causing urinary tract infections, we aim to assess antibiotic resistance pat...

متن کاملAntimicrobial Resistance Pattern and Prevalence of Class 1, 2, and 3 Integrons in Clinical Isolates of Klebsiella Pneumoniae in Loghman-E Hakim Hospital, Tehran
Abstract Background and Objective: Multiple drug resistance has increased in recent years in Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates. The Integrons are mobile genetic elements that carry antibiotics resistance genes. The aim of this study was to determine antibiotic susceptibility and the prevalence of class 1, 2, and 3 integrons in clinical Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from clinical specimens. Materi...
